Gil and Moyano spring a surprise in Madrid – Take out Tapia and Sanyo in first round

The number two pairing in the WPT ranking, Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia, were eliminated in their debut at the Madrid Master against Moyano and Gil, 6/2 3/6 5/7.

The brand new number two ranked couple in the WPT hasn't made the best start. Sanyo Gutierrez and Agustin Tapia were eliminated in the first round of the WPT Madrid Master against Ramiro Moyano and Francisco Gil in three sets.

Moyano and Gil were able to come back from 6/2 down in the first set. In the second set they showed a more aggressive game, while the number two pairing started to play erratically, making many unforced errors. Finally, in a more even third set it was Ramiro Moyano and Xisco Gil who managed to tip the balance in their favour.

Tapia and Sanyo had so far proved to be one of the most consistent pairings on tour, but in the last two tournaments they fell in the quarter finals and the round of 32 respectively.
