Outplayed the world number ones — took their third(!) straight WPT title: ”Our best match”

ANNONS

The final between the world's best and second best team was predicted to be a dramatic match. But Sanchez and Josemaria completely outplayed Triay and Salazar.

The match in the Avicii Arena in Stockholm was never as exciting as expected. While Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria came out at their best, Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay had their worst days in Sweden.

The pair succeeded with their tactic: press Triay hard in their defense.

— It depends on the day. Today we tried to put the ball there more. It always depends on the feeling of the day, of our opponents and us, says Paula Josemaria in the broadcast after the final.

The match ended with the big numbers 6-1, 6-1. Ariana Sanchez was the player of the match throughout. She mixed a brilliant defense on the slow court with an excellent tactical offense.

— Our best match together, she concludes after the game.

Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez are in the form of their lives together. This title, it's the third consecutive WPT title. The other two have been the Malaga Open and the Cascais Open.

The title in Stockholm marks the team's sixth WPT title of the season. The next competition is the Madrid Master starting this week.
