WPT's young stars crowned Spanish champions

Claudia Jensen and Noa Cánovas have been proclaimed champions of the 35th Spanish junior championship, after defeating Atencia/Manquillo in the final by 6/3 6/0.

The young revelations of the WPT circuit, Noa Canovas (18 years old) and Claudia Jensen (17 years old), became the new Spanish junior champions on Sunday, after beating Valeria Atencia and Leticia Manquillo in the final, 6/3 6/0.

The Spaniard and Argentinian - under the orders of Pablo Crosetti - started from qualifying rounds (winning four consecutive matches) and swept their rivals aside, not losing a single set in the eight matches played: In the last sixteen they defeated María E. Rodríguez and Anna Ortiz; in the quarterfinals, they beat second favourites Ana Domínguez and María Teresa Moríñigo; and in the semifinals, they knocked out Martina Fassio and Marta Barrera.

The men's final of the Junior category went to the top seeds, Daniel Santigosa and Guillermo Collado who beat Pablo Cardona and Pol Hernandez, by 6/3 7/6 and 6/2.

In the Cadet category Claudia Fernandez and Alejandra Alonso beat Andrea Ustero and Noemi Aguilar in the Women's final, while the Men's title went to Santiago Pineda and Manuel Aragon who won the final against Juan Zamora and Diego Garcia.

The champions in the Children's category were Amanda López and Jana Montes in the Women's draw, and Manuel Castaño and Izan Ranera in the Men's category.

The president of the FEP, Ramon Morcillo - who was absent from the competition for health reasons - sent a message of thanks to all the participants: "It has been a championship that for the Spanish Padel Federation is our star championship, because it is where the junior players of our sport play. We know you work hard to become better players and, from the Federation, we want to accompany you and ensure that everything is better and easier for you".
