Pablo Barrera will not participate in the APT La Rioja Open
The Riojan Pablo Barrera will not be able to participate in the APT Open of his city, due to the tendinitis that has afflicted him for more than two months. His partner Andres Britos will play alongside Juan Restivo.
The Argentine Pablo Barrera, current N°7 of the APT Padel Tour, will not be able to take part in the APT Open of La Rioja, as he could not recover from his right wrist injury.
Barrera had focused all his efforts on trying to recover to play the tournament in his homeland, where he would act as an ambassador, as well as being the promotional face of the competition.
At the official presentation of the tournament, Barrera had commented: "I haven't been able to pick up a racquet for more than a month, but I'm doing everything I can to get to La Rioja, even if it's without rhythm. I already told the doctors that I wanted to be, no matter what. It's a special tournament for me, plus we can be in front of a stadium full of 13,000 people in the Superdome, a real record we want to beat".
With a couple of semifinals, a final and two titles, Barrera and his partner, Andres Britos, started the year in the best way and quickly went from being the 11th couple to the 3rd best in the ranking. Since then, some bad tournaments and Pablo's injury after the Hungarian Open have left the couple out of rhythm.
His couple, Andres Britos, will make their debut on Thursday 8 September in the round of 16, starting as seeded No. 4 alongside Juan Restivo, who will replace his usual partner.
