APT starts 2023 season in record time: ”No pre-season anymore”

ANNONS

Forget pre-season if you're playing on APT next season. In an interview with French Padel Magazine, APT's Fabrice Pastor tells us that the 2023 season will start as early as January 5. He also criticizes the FIP.
— The federation is there to grow the sport, not to get money, he says.

— Punta del Este is like going to Saint-Tropez or Monaco in the middle of July, says APT owner Fabrice Pastor in an interview with Padel-Magazine.

The competition is extreme, and the battle for which world tour will ultimately stand out as the biggest, best, and most beautiful looks is set to continue at least through 2023.

The APT Padel Tour currently has the role of the world tour with lower-level players compared to World Padel Tour and Premier Padel (only men).

APT's Monegasque owner Fabrice Pastor offers an unexpected piece of news when French Padel Magazine meets him. The new season will start already on 5 January in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

From January to December — no pre-season

— It's interesting because we told the players that there is no pre-season anymore. The weeks that sometimes go between tournaments are the weeks you have to take advantage of to train. The APT wants to exist from January to December," says Fabrice Pastor.

The APT Padel Tour, which unexpectedly chose to cancel its tournament in Båstad (due to take place in the first week of August) and earlier this summer saw tour director Thomas Johansson resign.

More evidence is emerging of an unhealthy and unfair battle for padel power between the different circuits.

— The International Federation and the Italian Tennis Federation put pressure on the majors of the two cities so that APT could not play there. The players and the press must realize what is happening. I'm the only one talking about it. It may not be very formal, but we must discuss it. The federation is there to grow the sport, not to get money or find commercial deals," Pastor told Padel-Magazine.
