Premier Padel: Lebron and Galan champions of Madrid P1
Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan were crowned champions of the first Premier Padel P1 tournament in Madrid, after beating Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro in the final by 5/7 6/2 and 6/3.
The final of the first P1 tournament of the new Premier Padel circuit pitted Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan against the number two pairing, Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro. The couples were facing each other for the third time in a circuit final; Di Nenno and Navarro had won the first Major in Qatar, while the number ones had claimed the title in the Rome Major.
The match got off to a better start for Navarro and Di Nenno, who began the game strongly on the attack. Through patience, and not allowing their opponents to get the initiative, they managed to take the first set 7/5. The reaction of the number ones would not be long in coming and, at the start of the second part, they got two consecutive breaks to won the set 6/2 and level the score at 1.
Finally, in a very close final set, Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron managed to impose their game to win the Madrid tournament, after overcoming a two-and-a-half-hour battle against a great rivals.
"It's been a really demanding tournament, and the fans have given us the energy to come back in the matches. We are really happy to have been able to win three out of four finals against the best pairings in the world, it's really impressive," said Ale Galan after winning the title on home soil.
In this way the world number one couple won their third Premier Padel title - the first in the P1 category - after the Majors in Rome and Paris.
The Premier Padel circuit will return to action next week with the first tournament played on American soil: The second P1 of the season will kick off on Tuesday 9th August in Mendoza, Argentina.
