Sanchez and Josemaria crowned in Malaga

ANNONS

At the WPT Malaga Open, Sanchez and Josemaria faced Triay and Salazar in the final for the seventh time this season. The number two pairing played an almost perfect match, giving their opponents no chance and taking the final by a double 6-3.

In what has become a classic in WPT finals, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria faced defending champions Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar. For the number ones it was their tenth final of the season - fifth in a row - while for the number twos it was their ninth, proving why they are the two best couples on tour.

The number two seeds started the match in great form, and thanks to a determined Ariana Sanchez, they took the lead to win the first set 6-3. In the second set, everything started evenly until the seventh game. There, Paula Josemaría showed all her quality to get the break on the opponent's serve, a difference that would later be definitive for the number twos to be crowned champions, by a double 6-3 in an hour and a half of match.

"It's our best final against the number ones, we came in focused from the start and stayed focused the whole match. I think we both played very well and I'm very happy about that. With the whole team we have been working very hard and when things finally work out on the court it's very gratifying". Ariana Sanchez said after the match.

After three tournaments without titles, the number twos are back to winning ways, taking their fourth title of the season before the summer break. The action returns to the WPT courts on the 3rd of September with the Cascais Open.
