The semi-finals begin at the WPT Malaga Open
After a Friday with surprises, WO and great matches, the semifinals of the WPT Malaga Open begin. Today, from 10 am, the best couples of the tournament will face each other, looking for a place in the final.
This Saturday, in the semifinals of the Malaga Open, Stupaczuk and Lima will face Yanguas and Nieto. The couple number 4 of the ranking comes in great form, after eliminating Garrido and Campagnolo with solvency by 6-2 6-1. For their part, Nieto and Yanguas once again caused the surprise of the day. The couple number 10 of the circuit knocked out in two sets the last finalists at Roland Garros Premier Padel, Chingotto and Tello.
Sanyo Gutierrez and Agustin Tapia will play their twelfth consecutive semifinal after beating Lamperti and Sanz, 6-4 6-3. There, they will face the locals Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz, who got their pass after a tough three set match against the revelation couple of the tournament, Rubio and Benitez.
The first semifinal of the women's draw will see Sanchez and Josemaria take on the Sanchez Alayeto twins. The number two ranked couple are in great form after defeating Osoro and Iglesias 6-1 6-0. The twins reached the semifinals without having played their match, due to Marta Marrero testing positive for Covid.
Marta Ortega and Bea Gonzalez, had no problems in their Friday match, in which they eliminated Riera and Llagundo by a double 6-3. In the semifinals they will face the world number ones, Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar who, in a repeat of the Valencia final, beat Brea and Icardo 6-0 4-6 6-1.
