The WPT circuit signs former Spanish tennis player Alex Corretja as part of its management team. He will occupy the position of deputy to the presidency.

Barcelona's Alex Corretja joins the World Padel Tour team, taking up a position on the board of directors as of today, as deputy chairman, a position held by Ramón Agenjo since 2017.

"I am proud and excited to be part of the company that has transformed padel into a world-class professional sport. From now on my efforts will be focused on bringing my experience to the new project, which I am convinced will be to the liking of both the players and the players on the circuit," said Corretja.

World Padel Tour has announced the signing on the official website of the circuit. Its president, Ramon Agenjo, said about it:

"We are proud to add a benchmark player like Alex to our magnificent team. Together with him we will face a new stage full of challenges that will surely lead us to place the competition at the forefront of the 21st century to meet the needs of players and fans".

Corretja was world number two in the ATP rankings in 1999, as well as being a two-time finalist at Roland Garros and part of the Spanish team that won the first Davis Cup in 2000. After his retirement (due to an eye injury) Alex dedicated his career to representing players and was captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team in 2011.
