Premier Padel Madrid P1 officially launched: ”It will be the most important event”

Today, the official presentation of the Premier Padel Madrid P1 took place in Madrid. From the WiZink Center circuit authorities, organizers, and personalities of the sport, kicked off what will be the first P1 category tournament of the tour.

— Madrid will be the first of many important events that we will hold in Spain, said Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP.

While the Premier Padel Paris Major is taking place at the legendary Roland Garros, the Premier Padel circuit held the official launch of the next tournament on the Tour: the Premier Padel Madrid P1. Padel Alto was there for the presentation, which was attended by personalities from politics, padel, and sport in general.

On the 1st of August, the first P1 category tournament of the Premier Padel circuit will begin in the city of Madrid. The WiZink Center will be the chosen venue to hold the competition in one of the most emblematic cities of world padel. It was precisely there that the organisers of the circuit decided to present the tournament.

Luigi Carraro, president of the FIP said: "This will be the fourth event of our circuit, but I think it will be the most important event, because we come to the city that is the world capital of padel. Arriving with our circuit here is a very important milestone. We always said that we want to internationalise padel, and we will do so, but Spain will always be the most important country on our circuit. Madrid will be the first of many important events that we will hold in Spain".

The event was also attended by Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee. Blanco referred to the possibility of padel becoming an Olympic sport.

"I believe that padel has a great chance of entering the Olympic movement, and I am sure that once it enters it will never leave because it is a truly extraordinary sport. I am sure that very soon we will see padel within the big sports in the Olympics”, Blanco said.

Marta Rivera de la Cruz, Sports Councillor of the Community of Madrid commented on what it meant for the city to host a padel tournament of the characteristics of the Premier Padel Madrid P1: 

"The city of Madrid will provide everything to make ALL the players feel at home. It will be a fabulous show, and it will prove once again that Madrid is ready to host great sports events. This will be the first of many, it will be a spectacle for all the people of Madrid and we will make sure that everyone feels at home”.

From Paris, in an exclusive interview with Padel Alto, the Madrilenian player Alejandro Galan referred to the possibility of playing a Premier Padel tournament in his homeland: 

“I'm very excited, it's a date that I have marked on my calendar and I'm really looking forward to it. The WiZink is a unique venue and Madrid is a unique city for the world of padel. Seeing as every Premier Padel tournament has been evolving and growing, I'm looking forward to seeing surprises and new things at the Madrid P1”. Said the world’s number one.

The Madrid Premier Padel P1 will be the first of two second-category events announced by the circuit. The next one will be played in Argentina, in the city of Mendoza, from the 8th to the 14th of August.
