WPT Valencia Open – they will play in the semi-finals
After injuries and surprises, the quarterfinals of the World Padel Tour Valencia Open are history. Today, the best couples of the tournament will face each other in semi-finals that promise to be of the highest level.
The quarterfinals of the Valencia Open are over, and the best couples of the tournament will face each other today for a place in Sunday's final.
Agustin Tapia and Sanyo Gutierrez reached their twelfth consecutive semifinal after defeating the revelation couple of the tournament, Agustin Gutierrez and Josete Rico. In the beginning of the match, Tapia and Sanyo showed their best version taking the set by 6-1. In the second set, when the match was 6-1 3-1 in favour of the Argentine couple, Josete Rico had to retire due to an injury. This way, the couple number three of the ranking will face in the semifinals against Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno, who showed a great level to beat Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz by 6-4 and 6-4.
In the other men's semifinal, Galan and Lebron will face Maxi Sanchez and Lucho Capra. The number eight couple of the circuit, got their ticket to the semifinals after giving the surprise of the day, eliminating Franco Stupaczuk and Pablo Lima in a great three set match. Meanwhile, in a rematch of the last final in Valladolid, Galan and Lebron had no problems to beat Coello and Belasteguin. The number ones showed a great level of play to take the match 6-3 and 6-2.
On the women's draw, local player Tamara Icardo and her partner Delfina Brea faced the new number 3 couple of the circuit, Marrero and Sainz. The Spanish-Argentine couple, showed that they are recovering the level of last season, and took the match by 6/2 and 6/4. In the semifinals they will face the couple number 2 of the ranking, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez, who suffered to win their match in three sets against a tough Mesa and Jensen.
In the other semifinal match, Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar will face the number 4 couple, Marta Ortega and Bea Gonzalez. The number one ranked couple sealed their place in the semis after defeating Llaguno and Riera 6-1 7-5. For their part, Ortega and Gonzalez imposed the difference in the ranking and beat Bidahorria and Fernandez in two sets.
Both Women's draw matches will be broadcast on WPT Tv, while the Men's draw matches will be broadcast on pay-per-view platforms.
