In the first semifinal of the Marbella Master 2022 the reigning champions, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, faced Patricia Llaguno and Virginia Riera, who were looking for revenge after losing the final last season. In the end, the victory went to the world number two couple, 6-4 6-2.

In a rematch of last year's Marbella Master final, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria faced Patricia Llaguno and Virginia Riera.

The defending champions started the match in the best possible way, breaking their opponents' serve in the first game. At the start of the eighth game of the first set, Patty Llaguno had to be treated for a calf strain in her right leg, and although she was able to continue the match, she looked conditioned. The number two-ranked couple was able to maintain the advantage they had gained at the beginning of the match, and took the first set 6-4. In the second set it was all Ari and Paula, who knew how to take advantage of the physical decline of their rivals, got early breaks and took the match 6-4 6-2, after one hour and 40 minutes of play.

"Marbella suit us well, we like the weather, the people, it's wonderful to play here. We knew it would be a tough match, against a great pairing, but we played a great match. We are very happy to be in the final tomorrow" said Ariana Sanchez after the match.

The last champions of Marbella Master, will be looking to defend their title this Sunday. In the final, Paula and Ariana will face the winner of the Osoro/Iglesias and Las Heras/Virseda encounter, looking for their second title of the season.
