The semi-finals get underway in Denmark

Friday saw the quarter finals of the WPT Denmark Open come to an end with plenty of surprises. In the men's draw, the number one and two ranked pairings were knocked out. Meanwhile, in the women's draw, Osoro and Iglesias reached the semifinals after defeating Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria.

In the men's draw, the highlights of the day were the eliminations of the number one and two ranked pairings. In the first match of the day, the newly formed pairing of Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra took out Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron in two sets, 6/4 6/2. Meanwhile, in the last match of the day - in what was the best match of the round - the Argentines Juan Tello and Federico Chingotto managed to beat the world number two pairing, Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro, in three sets.

In the women's draw, the surprise of the day came after the elimination of the number two pairing, Sanchez/Josemaria, at the hands of Aranxa Osoro and Victoria Iglesias. The Argentinian and the Spaniard played at a high level and took the match 6/4 7/5 to reach their first semifinal of the season.
