After the reunion — Capra and Sanchez beat the world number ones

Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra are ready for the semi-finals of the WPT Danish Open after eliminating the world number one couple, Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron, in two sets. 

The newly formed pairing of Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra pulled off the day's biggest surprise. In their third tournament since the reunion, they eliminated Alejandro Galan and Juan Lebron in the quarter-finals of the Danish Padel Open. 

The number one ranked couple had started the match in the best way, breaking their opponents' serve and taking a 4-1 lead in the first set. But the Argentinian pair managed to overcome to take the set 6-4. In the second set, Capra and Sanchez -currently ranked number 8- played concentrated at all times, managing to break their opponents' serve twice to take the match, 6-4, 6-2.

Both pairings had faced five times previously, and Capra and Sanchez had never been able to beat the number ones.

"They are a couple that has always been very difficult for us to beat, and this is the first time we've managed to do it. So we're very happy to show the work we've been doing.  As you all know, there have been changes of partners and complicated things during the season, and Lucho is joining me now; he's a great partner. I'm very happy to be in another semi-final and have beaten Lebron and Galan," said Maxi Sanchez.

Lebron and Galan reached the finals in five of the six tournaments they played this season. And they have been crowned champions in two consecutive tournaments, Alicante and Brussels.

While Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra started their second stage as a couple only two tournaments ago, both in their debut at the Albacete Challenger and at the Brussels Open, they had fallen in the round of 16. Tomorrow, the Argentine duo will play their first semi-final of the season against the winner of the match between Gonzalez/Ruiz and Stupaczuk/Lima.
