16-year-old prodigy set for her first WPT quarter-final

ANNONS

16-year-old prodigy Claudia Jensen and her partner Carla Mesa are set for their first-ever World Padel Tour quarter-final. In the round of 16 of the Alicante Open, the pair knocked out Victoria Iglesias and Aranza Osoro.

The match was close and went to three sets, but in the end, it was Mesa/Jensen who could win the last set 6-1. The first set was remarkably close and ended with a tiebreak and a 14-12 victory.

Today's success is part of the excellent form the couple has been showing lately. Mesa/Jensen made it all the way to the final of the Getafe Challenger last weekend, where they fell to Marta Ortega/Bea Gonzalez.

For Osoro/Iglesias, the season so far has been less successful. The pair, who reached seven semi-finals last year, have only achieved one quarter-final in six attempts this year.

In tomorrow's quarter-final, Jensen/Mesa will face world champions Ale Salazar/Gemma Triay.
