After five tournaments: Sergio Alba breaks with his partner
The partners Alvaro Cepero and Sergio Alba, who had begun their team project at the beginning of the season, ended after not achieving the expected results.
Alba - 41 in the WPT ranking - and Cepero - 44 in the ranking - have decided to separate their ways after not achieving the objectives set at the beginning of the year.
The couple, who participated in 5 tournaments since the start of the season, were eliminated four times in a row in the Round of 32 (Vigo, Reus, Doha, and Alicante). The best result obtained was a place in the Round of 16 at the first WPT tournament of the season, the Miami Open. There, they fell against the couple of Fernando Belasteguin and Arturo Coello, who were finally the champions.
After Tuesday's defeat in the round of 32 of the WPT Alicante Open, against Javier Garcia Mora and Raul Marcos by 3-6 6-7, they put an end to the project that united them, and it seems that the decision was not taken together.
It would be Sergio Alba who, along with his team, would have decided to step aside.
"Today, I woke up to the news that Sergio Alba and his team have changed their "project." Thank you very much for everything I have received from you. I wish you all the best in your future. My team and I will keep working even harder," Alvaro Cepero declared on his Instagram.
Who they will play with for the rest of the season has not yet been confirmed. Padel Alto has been in contact with Alvaro Cepero, who announces that he has no new partner ready.
