Star player will miss WPT Getafe Challenger due to injury

Eli Amatriain confirms her muscle injury, which will keep her out of the courts for at least ten days.

Experienced player Eli Amatriain (38) will miss the Getafe Challenger due to an injury suffered on Thursday, 24th March, in the last 16 of the WPT Vigo Open.

 In the match against the Sanchez Alayeto twins, Eli felt a pain in the calf of her right leg, which forced her to abandon the game when the third set had just begun.

"Congratulations, Mapi and Majo, my injury doesn't tarnish your level of play today... It was a tremendous fight, and you pushed us to the limit. It's time to work on acceptance and wait to see what the tests say. I hope to be able to return soon to give it all on the court". Amatriain said after the injury.

Today it was confirmed that the injury was muscular and would keep her away from the courts until the Alicante Open on April 2nd.

Her partner Carolina Navarro (46) will not participate in the Challenger of Getafe either, pending Amatriain's recovery.

“I don't have very good news today...but I wanted to tell you that Eli's injury, which caused us to withdraw in Vigo against the twins, will prevent us from playing the Getafe Challenger. I will continue training hard this week, preparing for Alicante, while Eli recovers". says Navarro.
