Triay and Salazar show class — win their second straight title

ANNONS

There is no doubt who are the best teams in the world right now. Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay once again showed their class, winning the finals against Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.

With the title, the team took their second straight tournament win in two attempts this season, and the question now is whether any team can stop Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar's feat from last season of eight titles won.

The result was 6-3/6-7/6-1.

Triay and Salazar started just like in Miami in a convincing way and won the first set with a comfortable score of 6-3. In the second set, everything looked just as safe until 4-1. Then Josemaria and Sanchez came back into the match and caught up, turning it around to 5-4. In the end, the set went to a tiebreak where Sanchez and Josemaria won. Although the third set started with a break in favour of Ari and Paula, the number ones woke up and took the set 6-1.

—We started playing very well, until the 4-1 in the second set. Then Ari and Paula began to improve, and in the end they took the second set.  But in the third set we were able to get up and win the match. We are really happy for this start of the season that couldn't be better" said Gemma Triay to Padel Alto after the final.

Ari Sanchez also talked to Padel Alto:

—I am happy to have reached the final, but also sad that the title has slipped out of our hands. Anyway, it has been a very special week for me. She said after the defeat.
