The FIP Tour

Five days until registration closes for the first FIP tournament — here are the registered pairs

ANNONS
On Saturday, registration closes for the first event on the new FIP tour, which will be held in Doha between 28 March and 2 April. So far, 25 teams have registered. But expect many more in the coming days.

Not unexpectedly, Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan are in the starting line-up. Both of them came out hard against the World Padel Tour on their social media earlier this week during the Miami Padel Open.

In addition, we see the finalists from the World Padel Tour's Miami Padel Open, Javi Garrido, and Lucas Campagnolo registered seeded as number four´s as it is now.

With five days left of registration, we see many pairs at the top of the World Padel Tour. But expect more before registration closes on Saturday. In total 56 pairs will be competing in the Main Draw and 32 in the Qualification Round.

In the past, the World Padel Tour has threatened players with fines of around €500,000 if they participate in tournaments other than their own, with which they have contracts. They have also frozen all the FIP points that the players had previously for the World Padel Tour ranking.

The conflict has led the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Professional Players Association (PPA), chaired by Alejandro Galan, to take the matter to the European Commission.

The filing to the European Commission challenges World Padel Tour under article 101, preventing, restricting, and distorting competition of European Law and article 102, abuse of dominant position.

— It highlights in the clearest terms WPT´s abusive and exploitative monopoly regime, said the President of FIP, Luigi Carraro

The new tour is backed by football club Paris Saint Germain's owner Nasser Al Khelaifi, and his company Qatar Sports Investment and the players of the PPA have taken a stand for the new FIP tour against the World Padel Tour. The tour will include at least ten events this year. Venues other than Doha have not yet been officially announced.

Between the 26th and 27th of March, the qualification of the first tournament held at Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha will be held.

The prize money for the competition is €525.000.
