Reveals: PPA responds to WPT after threat of €500,000 fine: ”Inappropriate and disproportionate”

ANNONS

A month ago, through their lawyers, the World Padel Tour sent a letter to the Padel Players Association threatening a fine of €500,000 if they broke the contract and participated in the new FIP tour. Now the PPA has responded in a letter.
— Inappropriate and disproportionate, the letter states.

The conflict between the World Padel Tour and the Padel Players Association (PPA) continues. A month ago, Setpoint Events and the World Padel Tour wrote that the players could be fined up to €500,000.

Now the PPA responds in a letter.

— I am surprised that you insistently warn me with a claim for damages and with the application of penalties and sanctions, which are absolutely inappropriate and disproportionate when I have observed and complied with the WPT Agreement at all times, says the letter.

The PPA includes many of the professional men´s players, and Alejandro Galan is the President. They have previously criticized the World Padel Tour and have taken a stand favor of the new FIP tour backed by Qatar Sports Investment, QSI, starting in Doha in late March.

— For the sake of cooperation and good understanding, I ask you to refrain from communicating with me in the future by accusing me of any type of breach of contract and to cease your unjustified attempt to impede my professional development and promotion, says the letter.

The World Padel Tour has earlier frozen all FIP points previously earned by players as part of the conflict. The season's first World Padel Tour competition is held this week in Miami.
