The Swedes success in the Previa — one match from Miami: ”We're gonna die for it”
Daniel Windahl reached the second round of Previa last year. Now he and his temporary partner, Argentinian Ramiro Pereyra, are through to the final of Previa and are one match away from booking a ticket to the Miami Open.
During the day, they won against experienced Gonzalo Rubio and Jorge Ruiz in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
— Crazy. In the first set, I didn't think we were there mentally. Then in the second set, that's exactly what we did. Got the double break and won 6-4
— Then it was emotional chaos in the third. There were breaks back and forth, four in total, and emotions are up and down, and down.
He continues:
— When I was in the bathroom in the second set, I heard that Simon Vasquez had won, and I thought about that then at 5-5 in the third. I thought, "he won, now we will win"
Raul Marcos and Javi Garcia now face off in a crucial match to decide who gets to book plane tickets to Miami.
— Of course, it's another tough game, even here we are underdogs. But if we play like this, we put pressure on all pairs. My body actually feels pretty good.
— We've got one more match in us and we're gonna die for it
Simon Vasquez and his French partner Johan Bergeron were the best to reach the first round of Previa last season. They knocked out Mati Diaz and Aris Patiniotis in today's second round in three sets.
— It just flowed, and I felt I played almost flawlessly in the third. I probably never played better in my life. I don't know what's going on. It's crazy. Everything seems to be going right, said Simon Vasquez after the match.
And continues:
— I can't describe it in words, but there's one match left.
Now Bergeron's compatriot, Ben Tison, and Spaniard Teo Zapata await in a tough Previa final.
