Won against Serena Williams in 2015 — now making her debut on the World Padel Tour

A former world number one makes her debut in the Pre-Previas to the first World Padel Tour tournament, Miami Open. When the qualifying begins in Madrid on Saturday, the former number one in doubles tennis will be ready: Italian Roberta Vinci. 

Roberta Vinci is entered in the qualifiers along with Giulia Sussarello.

Many of the women´s top padel players come from the world of tennis. Marta Marrero, in particular, is significant for the switch between sports. Marrero, for example, made it to the quarter-finals of the French Open 

For the qualification to Miami Open, the padel world will be introduced to a tennis player with a huge track record - Roberta Vinci.

Vinci enters in the first round of the Pre Previa alongside Italian national team player Giulia Sussarello. The Italian pair will face the Belgian Helena Wyckaert, who is paired with 18-year-old Spanish talent Monica Gomez Rivas. The match will be played at 11 am on Saturday. 

A look through the Italian's Instagram shows that she has been playing padel for a while and has played several tournaments with Sussarello.

Roberta Vinci has taken five Grand Slam victories in double. In 2015 she won against Serena Williams in the singles semifinals of the US Open. In total, Roberta Vinci has won two double titles at the Australian Open, one at the French Open and one at the US Open.
