The Oceanic tennis city gets its first padel centre — in the heart of the town: ”Completely addicted”

The cosmopolitan city of Melbourne, with over five million inhabitants, gets its first padel facility in the heart of the town. Overlooking the ocean, the new One Padel facility's three courts are now ready for padel.

Padel enthusiast Austin Simms and his three friends have built Melbourne's first seaside padel facility. The facility is located in Docklands in the middle of the Australian tennis city. Named "One Padel" by the four friends, the facility has three courts.

As expected, the idea of building courts in Melbourne came from a "European journey". Austin Simms fell in love with padel while on holiday in Amsterdam two years ago, and the four friends have been working on the project ever since.

The friends were slightly shocked by Simms' new passion.

— He's completely addicted to padel. He plays three times a week, Austin's friend Jason Gasper tells local newspaper Dockland News when interviewing the friends about their new facility.

So now there's padel in the tennis-crazy city of Melbourne. During the Australian Open, visitors also had the chance to try their hand at padel outside Rod Laver Arena.

One Padel is Australia's fifth padel facility in succession. Previously, there were facilities in Perth, the Gold Coast, and Sydney.
