Grabiel ends his professional career: ”Now begins a new stage as a coach”
46-year-old Maxi Grabiel from La Plata, Buenos Aires, started his career in padel in 1988. Just a few years later, he became a professional player in 1993.
— I feel that I have given everything I had, and I leave at the moment that I thought that I did not enjoy it as before, he writes in a post on Instagram.
In 2002 he became the number one pair in Argentina with Seba Nerone. However, he was at his best ten years later, reaching the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open, Cascais Open, Seville Open, and Murcia Open in 2013. A year later, he took the Valencia Masters title alongside a young Paquito Navarro. In 2014 he also helped win the World Championship title for Argentina.
Now begins a new career in padel. A job that has already started as the results in recent years have been less. The last time Maxi Grabiel reached the Master Final was in 2018.
More recently, he has started his career as a trainer for Marta Ortega and Bea Gonzalez.
— Now begins a new stage as a coach, and I will advance some things soon, he writes.
Several of the players on the World Padel Tour have paid tribute to Maxi Grabiel as he declared his retirement.
