Josemaria/Sanchez's success — wins the Master Final: ”Not many believed in us”

ANNONS

MADRID. Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have written themselves into the history books and are finally there as champions of the most prestigious tournament of the year - the Master final.

— I am incredibly happy, says Paula Josemaria in the World Padel Tour broadcast.

In a final marked by nervous elements, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez finally managed to keep their nerves in check and won 6-4, 6-2.

— We are champions, and we are so happy. This has been the goal all season, and you are a fantastic player Ari. I hope we can play with each other for a long time to come.

The last match of the year on the women's side was not the most well-played, and maybe it was those famous nerves that haunted us. But the lack of delicious balls and highlights is something Sanchez/Josemaria probably don't care about. For Paula, it was her first Master final title - for Ari, her second.

— To win here is fantastic. It's the title you want.  It's been a good year, but also a tough year. Not everyone believed in us before this year, says Ari Sanchez.

Sainz: ”I was too bad.”

Lucia Sainz was very disappointed after the final.

— I wasn't playing well today. So I am a little bit frustrated. The season has been irregular, just like my tournament here. I couldn't get into the game today, Sainz said to Padel Alto after the final.

Marta Marrero and Lucia Sainz will keep playing in 2022.

— Looking forward to a pre-season and playing more together and getting better with my injury, Lucia Sainz says.
