Carolina Navarro wants to switch national teams: ”I'm available”

ANNONS
Padel legend Carolina Navarro Björk wants to switch national team, from the Spanish to the Swedish. She tells this in an interview with Padel Alto's Swedish sister site PadelDirekt.
— I feel very comfortable in Sweden, says the 45-year-old to the site.

Carolina Navarro unexpectedly competed in this weekend's Swedish Championships. She and her partner were knocked out in the semi-finals but could take the bronze medal.

But the most unexpected came during an interview with the star to PadelDirekt after the bronze medal match. There she opened up to play for the Swedish national team in the future.

— Well, if Mari (Swedish national coach) wants me to play, I'm happy to do so. It could have been great for me. I also think that I, with my experience, can help the Swedish padel move forward. And also help to put together an excellent national team, Carolina Navarro says to PadelDirekt.

And continues:

— I feel Swedish too. Half my family lives here, and I've been here a lot this year. I feel very comfortable in Sweden.

”Sounds fantastic”

No more Spain then?
— No, I've played so much for them. It's time for other players now.

When the Swedish national coach Mari Andersson hears about Navarro's decision, she breaks into a smile.

— It wasn't exactly bad news. It sounds fantastic. It's great that she's open to it. Just something like having her around, both for me and all the younger players, it's like a legend we're talking about, and we can probably get a lot of help there too.

Carolina Navarro has been the best player in the world for nine years. She is currently ranked 18th and has played four quarter-finals on the World Padel Tour this year.
