33-ranked Alba Galan retires from padel at only 29 years old. Now she's going to focus on coaching instead.
— I have suffered from anxiety for many years, she writes on her Instagram page.

Spanish 29-year-old Alba Galan - older sister of world number one Ale Galan - ends her padel career. She announces it herself via Instagram.

— I have suffered from anxiety for many years and with many damn thoughts about competing with a back injury, and now it's time to do something that makes me very, very happy, she writes.

But she won't let go of the padel completely.

— it is my last year of competition, as my dream is to continue my sports career as a coach in this sweet transition. This with some WPT players that I will have in 2023 and that motivate me endlessly, she continues.

Alba Galan reached the semi-finals two years ago on the World Padel Tour. This year, she and her partner Teresa Navarro have made it to the quarter-finals once, at the Valladolid Masters in June.
