Official: Two World Padel Tour tournaments in Sweden next year

Previously, Padel Alto has reported that the World Padel Tour is coming to Denmark next year. Now it is clear that Sweden will have another competition in addition to the one in Malmo, it will be held in Stockholm. 

It is in a press release from the newly formed Ledap Group that announces the news. At the same time as they announce that they buying up the Swedish Padel Open (SPO). 

Ledap Group is the new padel group that already operates more than 90 padel centers with over 600 padel courts, primarily in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

— For various reasons, the arena is not yet ready. But the competition in Stockholm will be in week 16. Next year, there will be two WPT tournaments, with the final one in Malmo at the same time as this year, says Urban Johansson, Tournament Director for Malmö Padel Open to the Swedish site PadelDirekt. 

The tournament in Malmo will be played next week.

Ledap Group acquires the Swedish Padel Open (SPO) and the exclusive rights to operate the only two World Padel Tour (WPT) tournaments in Sweden. 

With this purchase, Ledap further expands its activities in the padel sport. Soon there will be class padel in Malmö when Swedish Padel Open organises the Areco Malmö Padel Open.

The Areco Malmö Padel Open will be held in Malmö Arena from 10 to 14 November 2021. It is the world's biggest padel tournament - and the world's best padel players are coming to Sweden.

— It feels extra nice that my partner in the company Nicklas Persson is an old Malmo-person. We are looking forward to organizing a world-class padel tournament in his hometown. It will be enjoyable to see the world's best padel players. It also feels good that we have moved the qualifying matches to WAP in Skurup, says Urban Johansson, tournament director for Areco Malmö Padel Open.

Ledap Group, in cooperation with the venture capital company Triton, has already made 30 acquisitions and established the padel group in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, and Austria. The goal is to be found in more than 200 locations and operate more than 1700 padel courts by the end of 2022.

Ledap's goal is to make padel accessible to everyone, regardless of level.

— We have high ambitions for the sport, and Ledap Group, together with the global padel community, wants to contribute to making padel an Olympic sport, says Per Agebäck, chairman of Ledap Group.
