Rodriguez twins Spanish champions when the elite boycotted

ANNONS
MADRID. Eunice and Priscila Rodriguez, born in 2004 in Seville. These are the names of the new Spanish padel champions after the women's world elite boycotted.

The main news before the tournament came about the boycott among the world elite on the women's side. But on Sunday, the new Spanish champions were crowned in WiZink Center in Madrid when twins Priscila and Eunice Rodriguez won the final against Laia Alvarez and Andrea Colinas, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The young Rodriguez duo was top-seeded before the tournament and is in 125th place in the World Padel Tour rankings.

This year the team has been in the main tournament in three Challengers as the best results.

What about the match? It looked lost for a long time. Colinas and Alvarez were the better team for a long time and won the first set fairly. In the second set, they broke to 4-3 and could serve home that match. Then the nerves kicked in in front of by far the biggest crowd they had ever played in front of.

Rodriguez was allowed to get into the match and had a mental edge which they took advantage of in the third set.

The match contained some mistakes, as expected as neither team is used to playing in front of such large crowds as Sunday's finals at the WiZink Center contained. The men's final is currently being played between Javi Garrido/Martin Di Nenno and Pablo Lijo/Javi Ruiz.
