Bela and Coello´s comeback — won the prestigious meeting
The tiebreak in the second set was crucial for the match. After losing it, Sanyo Gutierrez and Agustin Tapia ran out of air, and the third set ended 6-1 to Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin. Fernando Belasteguin showed his experience and Arturo Coello his youthful enthusiasm.
They are now through to their first semi-final of the year together in their second tournament as a pair.
It looked for a long time that the match would end differently. Agustin Tapia and Sanyo Gutierrez started the quarter-final the best and won the first set steadily 6-3. Both Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin had problems getting into the match and invited their opponents to make easy mistakes.
The match was special for Fernando Belasteguin and Sanyo Gutierrez. It was the first time they had met since the much-talked-about break-up after the Barcelona Masters.
For Fernando Belasteguin, we have to rewind time to the Las Rozas Open, the last time the icon reached a semi-final on the World Padel Tour. Arturo Coello last reached a semi-final, then with Javi Ruiz. However, the pair were forced to leave the walk-over in that match due to an injury to Javi Ruiz.
In the semi-finals, Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin will face Paquito Navarro/Martin Di Nenno. In the other semi-final Alejandro Galan/ Juan Lebron faces Franco Stupaczhuk and Alex Ruiz, just like in the semi-finals of Menorca Open.
