Sainz through to semi-finals at home in Barcelona — here are the semi-final teams

ANNONS
Lucia Sainz and Bea Gonzalez are ready for their sixth semi-final season after defeating Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea in Barcelona Masters in a tight match, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Lucia Sainz did it to the semi-finals in front of her home crowd in Barcelona. For her and her partner Bea Gonzalez, the win against Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea marks the pair's sixth semi-final of the season. However, the team has never won a semi-final and reached the final.

Something the pair are looking to change during the Barcelona Masters.

The match was well played, and after two sets, it was decided in a third where Bea Gonzalez and Lucia Sainz took a clear lead from the start.

However, after a couple of golden points where Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea came out on top, they went up 5-5. From there, Bea Gonzalez and Lucia Sainz took two straight games to win the deciding set 7-5.

In tomorrow's semi-final, the pair will face Mapi / Majo Alayeto that unexpectedly knocked out Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.

For the two-time title winners, Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea, this was another painful loss. At the Sardegna Open, the team was eliminated in an equally close quarter-final against Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.

In the second quarter-final, played simultaneously on court two, Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar won comfortably against Aranza Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, 6-2, 6-3.

The last team to be through to the semi-finals is Patty Llaguno and Virginia Riera that knocked out Marta Marrero and Marta Ortega.
