Botello withdraws — misses his third tournament of the season
Yesterday, the twelfth-ranked pair Uri Botello and his new partner Ramiro Moyano won in the Sardegna Opens round of 32 against Mati Diaz and Joseda Sanchez 6-4, 6-2.
The next opponents would be the finalists from the Cascais Masters, Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello. But on Thursday, the World Padel Tour announced that Uri Botello would not be playing. The reason is medical reasons.
”We wish you a quick recovery”, WPT writes on their website.
This means that Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello are through to the quarter-finals of the Sardegna Open.
During the first tournament of the season, Uri Botello suffered from Covid-19. In the Las Rozas Open, he was forced to withdraw due to his partner, Ramiro Moyano's illness. And now they are forced to cancel the Sardegna Open. This means he will have to withdraw from a tournament for the third time this season.
This season, his best result came with his former partner, Javi Ruiz, as the team made it to the semi-finals in the Marbella Masters. It is currently unclear what medical reason is forcing Uri Botello to withdraw from the Sardegna Open.
