Playtomic launches a social community for padel: ”The power is in the player”

Playtomic is the global application where players can book padel times at facilities across Europe. The company is now launching a new feature, a social community that will bring players together even more. 
— It’s a basic version of what the product can be, 
Pedro Clavería, CEO and Co-Founder of Playtomic, says. 

At Playtomic you can book over 1000 courts for padel, tennis, and football. The application is largest in Spain, where its headquarters are located but operates in 33 different countries.  

Playtomic is now launching a new feature, a social community where you can follow your friends, post pictures before, after, and during a match. And where you can create your own feed and share the results from single every match. 

— We can see that the power is in the player, and they demand better and broader services than just finding a court and players at your own level. 

The concept is similar to Instagram or Linkedin, but for the padel community. In addition to following your own padel competitors and friends, you'll be able to follow big stars, celebrities, and major padel brands in the future. 

— Sometimes, you upload a picture from a match on Instagram, but we think that’s not the right place. That's why we invested in bringing in community life in our app. You have a news feed where you can follow your friends and be inspired by the content. In the future, there will be professional players and brands there also, Pedro Clavería. says. 

The social community has been launched slightly. And the idea is that in the future, more features will be launched.

— We have released this very silently. It’s a basic version of what the product can be in the future. 

How has the response from users been? 

— Super positive. But that's not enough for us. The product needs to be better and the users demanding the same things like Instagram and Linkedin, but they are thousands of persons. We are hundred. So we have to work hard and keep deliver better service for the players. But we can see that the early adopters understood this very fast, Pedro Clavería says.

And continues:

— We can see many reactions to pictures, but we also see that 80 percent of the matches that are played are shared in the news feed after. 

What is posted mostly in the social feed?  

— It's crazy how high the amounts of beers that the users post.— after the game, it's an after-game meeting with some beers. The mixed matches are posting most, but also new rackets. 

In the Playtomic application, you have your own ranking level, and you can see other players at the same level and book yourself into these matches. 

When you register the result, your ranking is lowered or raised depending on the result.

— We are building the global standard level of playing. You will see that players from Finland going to Fuengirola and Swedish people in Marbella in the summertime, they playing open matches and their level fits. That's super-cool, Pedro Claveria says. 

Where are the most interesting markets for you in the future? 

— It´s growing a lot in Sweden, but I think the growth going to stop soon. There is no room for many more clubs in Sweden, and we can already see now that some clubs struggling. When the hangover of Sweden is, we will see Finland, Norway, and Denmark growing rapidly. We also see growth in the Middle East and then Central Europe. The main markets will be in France, Germany, the UK in five years.
