Tapia and Lima take second title in a row — after thrilling tiebreak

ANNONS
MALAGA. Was the title in Las Rozas a one-off for Agustin Tapia and Pablo Lima. No. Now they stand as winners of the Malaga Open, their second title in a row. In the final, they defeated crowd favorites Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno.

Crowd favorites Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno will continue to wait for their first title this season. The result was 6-2, 7-6.

In the first set, there was a clear advantage for Agustin Tapia and Pablo Lima. The second was even more even.

Paquito Navarro condemned a serve that was clearly inside at a good breakpoint, and instead of setpoint, Lima/Tapia could go up to 5-5 and even the set.

The second set ended in a dramatic tiebreak.

Navarro/Di Nenno had three set points, but Lima/Tapia came back and could win. The tiebreak ended 9-7 with Agustin Tapia deciding with a delicious backhander. Afterward, the sold-out arena in Malaga, most of whom were cheering for Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno, gave them standing ovations.
