Coello and Ruiz to semi-final in their second tournament together — after turnaround

ANNONS
MALAGA. Arturo Coello and Javi Ruiz are through to their first semi-final, in their second tournament together. This after turning a deficit into a win against Franco Stupazcuk and Alex Ruiz.

Javi Ruiz and Arturo Coello are the first men's pair to advance to the semi-finals of the Malaga Open. After losing the first set by a full 1-6 to Franco Stapazcuk and home player Alex Ruiz.

The team came out fresh in the second set and won it 6-2. In the third and deciding set, Franco Stupazcuk and Alex Ruiz had the upper hand for a long time, but at the end, when it mattered most, Arturo Coello and Javi Ruiz stepped up and made it to their first semi-final together.

The final set ended 6-4.

Arturo Coello started the season brilliantly with Miguel Lamperti and made it to two semi-finals in the World Padel Tour's first two tournaments, the Madrid Open and Alicante Open.

After that, there have been worse results until Arturo Coello changed partners from Miguel Lamperti to Javi Ruiz. In the pair's first tournament, the team went out in the first match against Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno.

In only their second tournament, they are now through to the semi-finals. Javi Ruiz had reached the semi-finals once before this year with former partner Uri Botello during the Marbella Masters.

Now the pair will face the quarter-final winner between the winners from Las Rozas, Agustin Tapia / Pablo Lima, and Coki Nieto / Tito Allemandi.
