”Las Martas” are back — to their first final since November

ANNONS
LAS ROZAS. Marta Ortega and Marta Marrero are back. Now the pair are set for their first World Padel Tour final since last November. They did so by defeating the winners from Valencia, Delfi Brea, and Tamara Icardo in three sets.

It's been a tough 2021 for "Las Martas". 2019's dominants have gone to two semi-finals and lost at best, in the Valladolid Masters and Santander Open. But today the negative trend was broken when the team won against this year's successful pair Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea in three sets.

Since November last year, the win marks the first final for the pair when they lost to the former pair of Lucia Sainz and Gemma Triay in the Alicante Open.

The team had two match points in the third set at 5-3 but did not take advantage of either. But in the game after, Marta Marrero served her way to victory.

Marrero is particularly enjoyed out on the fast court. Madrid's high altitude and the high temperature make the game very fast this week at the Las Rozas Open, which gets the most out of Marta Marrero's offensive smash game.

Otherwise, both teams had one set each. The first went to "Las Martas" 6-3, the second to the more defensively strong team of Tamara Icardo and Delfi Brea, 6-4.

In tomorrow's final, "Las Martas" will face Paula Josémaria and Ariana Sanchez, who won their semi-final slightly easier against Lucia Sainz and Bea Gonzalez earlier in the day.
