Juan Martin Diaz to Padel Alto: ”Many things have to improve”

Juan Martin Diaz and Paquito Navarro decided the final of the European Championship when the team easily won the championship without losing a match. After the match, Padel Alto met with a satisfied Juan Martin Diaz. At the same time, he criticizes the International Padel Federation (FIP) that organizes the championship. 

— Many things have to improve, he says to Padel Alto.

The legend Juan Martin Diaz and the superstar Paquito Navarro won their match easily, 6-1, 6-2, and decided the final against Italy. 

He seemed to enjoy playing with Paquito Navarro. 

— Yes. Paquito has strong in the smash. For me, it´s a pleasure to play with him, he says. 

While he is happy for a European Championship gold, he is critical of the organizers, the International Padel Federation (FIP). 

— I think many things need to improve in this tournament. Hopefully, it will be of better quality in the future. 

Improve in what way? 

— In all ways. The organization here, the place we are at. It´s a failure for FIP, he says. 

But he is happy that the level of the other teams has been raised even though Spain didn't lose a game in the entire tournament. 

— Many countries are better every time I see them. Italy, France, and Sweden, for example.

This season has gone badly for the legend on the World Padel Tour. Before the last competition in Valladolid, he changed partner from Coki Nieto to Pablo Lijo. That partnership started well, and the pair reached the quarter-finals.   

— I start to play with Coki Nieto this season. We did it badly. I´m now with Pablo Lijo, and it went well in Valladolid. I think it´s going to be great, he says. 

Why did you feel a change was necessary?

— I am an old man, 45 years old. I need a strong smash beside me, and I have it in Pablo Lijo, Juan Martin Diaz says. 

The next tournament on the World Padel Tour is the Valencia Open that starts this week. 

— It´s going to be hard, but we will try to be as good as possible,
