Despite cramp – Riera and Llaguno through to the semi-final after drama

The result was 4-6, 6-4 in the two first sets. In the third set, a tiebreak was needed to decide the match. 

There, the winners of the Vigo Open, Riera and Llaguno, were the strongest. However, large parts of the crowd in Marbella were cheering for their opponents. 

The match was played in hot conditions in Marbella and lasted over two hours and 40 minutes. Both Patty Llaguno, but especially Virginia Riera, suffered from cramps in the third set. 

They will face Victoria Iglesias and Aranzazu Osoro in the semi-final tomorrow. 

In the other semi-final, Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar face Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez.
