New surprise in Vigo - Gonzalez and Sainz knocked out

The surprises continue in the Vigo Open. After Paula Josemaria and Arianas Sanchez were eliminated in the round of 16, Lucia Sainz and Bea Gonzalez were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Virginia Riera and Patricia Llaguno. 

The Vigo Open has become the tournament of scandals. Especially on the women's side, where two-time finalists Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez were eliminated in the round of 16. 

In Friday's quarter-finals, the favorite-tipped pairs, third-ranked Bea Gonzalez and Lucia Sainz, surprisingly went out in two straight sets with the big scores of 4-6, 0-6. 

This means that 17th-ranked Virginia Riera and 11th-ranked Patricia Llaguno are through to Saturday's semi-finals, where the pair will face the winner between Elisabet Amatriain and Araujo who will face Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias. 

Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias were the ones that knocked out Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez in the round of 32.
