WPT about APT: "Have nothing to say about it"
World Padel Tour's International Manager Hernan Auguste doesn't want to talk about competitor American Padel Tour's expansion into Europe. Auguste answers "no comment" to the question from Padel Alto.
Led by new director Thomas Johansson, American Padel Tour is expanding from South America out into the world. For example, the tour will come to Sweden between October 11 and 17.
– Our goal is to grow globally so that more people worldwide can have the opportunity to enjoy this great sport, Johansson wrote, for example, in connection with his appointment as APT manager.
An earlier attempt by APT founder Fabrice Pastor to go international led to a schism between APT and the World Padel Tour. That fear remained as APT now relaunches its expansive venture. Johansson, however, says that fear is unfounded.
– His goal was not to compete with the WPT. Fabrice loves padel and wants nothing more than for it to grow. His goal has always been to give players more jobs and grow padel globally, that it shouldn't just be competitions in Spain and Argentina. His goal has never been to make enemies with the World Padel Tour. The goal is to find a partnership with the World Padel Tour in a couple of years and try to have a big tour, like tennis has, for example.
When Padel Alto asks the International Manager of WPT, Hernan Auguste, about APT:s expansion, he says.
- I don't want to comment on it. I have nothing to say about it.
